The Village
Carriçal, located in the south-east of the island of São Nicolau, is one of the most original fishing villages in Cape Verde. The small village with just under 200 inhabitants is supplied with solar power, there are a few small shops, bars and a school as well as an abandoned tuna factory. In this unspoilt place, you get the impression that the clocks stopped a long time ago.
Carriçal was marked on the maps of Portuguese sailors as a watering hole. The spring still gushes today and supplies the agricultural valley and the village. The warm and temperate summer climate is ideal for swimming all year round.
