The Bay
The bay of CarriƧal consists of a black lava beach and an acacia forest that extends into the valley behind it, which is used for agriculture. Due to the sheltered location of the bay, the sea is as calm as a lake all year round and is ideal for swimming, snorkelling and fishing. The water temperature is between 22 and 27 degrees.
Dolphins often swim directly in front of the bay and, with a bit of luck, whales can also be spotted.
In summer, you can watch turtles laying their eggs on the sandy beach and in autumn you can watch the baby turtles hatch and run into the sea.
To the west and east along the coast you will find volcanoes, colourful rock formations, several secluded bays with black or white sand and caves as well as a freshwater spring.
